Fraser McConnell Takes Round 9 Friday Night; Larsson Continues Run of Impressive Performances placing 2nd; Timmy Hansen Secures Third

(Las Vegas, Nevada USA – Friday, 1 and Saturday 2 March 2024) Nitrocross closed out its 2023/2024 season under the lights in Las Vegas with a dominating performance from Sweden’s Robin Larsson in Round 10 to clinch his second Ken Block Championship Trophy.  Alongside him, DRR JC teammate Fraser McConnell (JAM) continued to prove why he’s a name to watch by claiming the second spot in the championship while Kevin Eriksson’s consistency throughout the season landed him third.

Seven drivers came into Las Vegas this weekend with a chance to leave as champion, but Larsson left no doubt he was the best driver of the campaign with a clean sweep across Saturday, but it was McConnell who was victorious on Friday night, the first-ever Nitrocross round in Las Vegas.

“It was an amazing race,” said McConnell. “To be able to get the first win of Nitrocross ever in Vegas definitely feels special.

“There’s a huge fan base here, huge crowd, it was a pretty close race by the looks of it, so I’m really happy to come out with a dominant win.”

Larsson’s Saturday night final win capped off a perfect day in which he won every race in the build-up to the main event, rounding out a stellar season in which he retained his Group E title.

“Of course this was the series we were aiming to win and we won it both in driver and team championships, it’s always nice to win,” he said. “Going into this final round it’s always stressful, we know it’s going to be tight, but we came out of it pretty strong yesterday so I was really relaxed this morning with better speed all day.

“To secure that top qualifier and win, it feels so good. Maximum points and the Ken Block trophy is really cool to win – it means a lot.”

NEXT 2023/24 Series

Casper Jansson completed his championship-winning season with a record-extending eighth Nitrocross NEXT win, in what was the final race before the introduction of the NEXT EVO car in the 2024/25 season.

“We are looking forward to the FC2 and hope to win,” he said of the upcoming new generation.

Kainan Baker was similarly dominant, winning four races en route to the championship.

“A lot of confidence and consistency has helped set me apart in this series and led me to this championship win,” he said. “Next year you can expect another championship win and podium finishes in every race.”
